The Parents’ Manifesto
The truths we hold self-evident, and the expectations we state plainly — beginning with ourselves.

We are parents who choose a Catholic school on purpose, not once but every day, entrusting to it what is most precious to us: our children. We hold these truths to be self-evident among all who profess Christ:
- Every child is made in the image of God and bears a dignity that no other person’s behavior or opinion may discount.
- The Golden Rule is the standard of a Christian community, not its aspiration.
- Parents are the first and primary educators of their children; the school is our indispensable partner, never our replacement.
- A Catholic school is a community of believers before it is an institution, and what a community tolerates, it teaches.
- The Faith is not a subject. It is taught in religion class and lived in the hallway, the lunchroom, the sports field, and the group chat.
Because we hold these truths, we state our expectations plainly, beginning with ourselves.
We expect of our children:
- That they treat every classmate with kindness and dignity.
- That they include the excluded.
- That they refuse to be an audience for cruelty, speaking up or getting help when someone is mistreated.
- That when they cause harm, they repair it honestly.
We expect of ourselves:
- That we model at home and in the stands what we demand in the classroom.
- That we believe our own child capable of harm as well as good.
- That when another parent brings us hard news about our child, our first words are thanks, not denial.
- That we bring our own concerns directly, privately, and charitably, never to the bleachers or the group chat.
- That we show up for this community with our presence, not only our tuition or tithe.
We expect of our fellow parents:
- Exactly what we expect of ourselves, nothing more and nothing less.
- A parent who comes to us directly is doing us a favor. We promise to be that parent, and to receive that parent.
We expect of our school:
- That the Faith be taught in the curriculum and required in the corridors: how children treat one another is part of their Catholic formation, not an interruption to it.
- That one standard apply to every child, without favoritism: no preference to the benefactor’s child, the staff member’s child, or the family whose conversation is hardest to have.
- That when accounts conflict, discernment replace false balance: weighing patterns, power dynamics, and the cost of speaking up, knowing that treating unequal things equally is not justice.
- That aggression be answered firmly enough to change behavior, and that the child who reported it be protected for having spoken.
- That parents be treated as partners: told early, involved early, trusted with the truth.
And we pledge in return: when our school upholds this standard, we will be its strongest allies. We will defend it publicly, support its judgments even when they fall on our own child, and assume goodwill in its hardest decisions.
These expectations bind us before they bind anyone else. We sign as those willing to be held to them first.
